Excitement Comes with Spring and the Rivergate Festival

Every year, the city of Tunica spills out into the streets to welcome spring with the Rivergate Festival.  This year, the festival will be held on April 16^th and 17^th, with a special carnival night on Thursday, April 15^th.  On that night, the purchase of a wristband will ensure limitless rides.

The Rivergate Festival is not just about the carnival rides, however.  Oh, no.  Downtown Tunica will be alive with exciting activities like rock climbing, train rides, and food like you wouldn’t believe.  The backyard barbecue will be available through the whole festival, but there will be blind judging on Saturday.  If you’re a car and motorcycle lover, then you’ll want to be present for the Studebaker Car Show and the Running of the HOGS, as well as the Rivergate Ragtop Rally, which is a show of convertibles of all makes and models.

For those that are of a creative mind, there will be arts and crafts available for display and sale.  These arts and crafts will be offered by local artisans, and over one hundred craft booths are expected this year.  For those the fancy themselves to be a superstar, there is a chance to sing your heart out for the title of Tunica Idol on Saturday evening.

The concert stages feature two amazing musical acts.  Crossin Dixon will open the festivities on Friday night at 8:00 PM, and Braden Gray will finish things up with a bang on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 PM.  You don’t want to miss out on these up and coming stars.

And of course, there is no way that you would want to miss the food.  The South is known for their amazing barbecue, but that’s not all that will be offered.  Vendors will bring you snack foods, as well as home-style meals.
