Don’t Miss Delta Day

The Delta Day Festival in Tunica will be held on October 16, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  It’s free to anyone that wants to attend and is always held in the Rivergate Park in downtown Tunica.  The kids will find no end of things to do, including a petting zoo, face painting, a balloon artist, an inflatable moon bounce, a kiddie train, a children’s tractor pull contest, and a costume contest.

For the adults, there will be arts and crafts vendors, entertainment, and lots of food available for everyone.  A 5K run will be sponsored by the Humane Society, an antique car show will offer judging and prizes, and a display of antique tractors.  The Pioneer Village will feature a broom maker, a yarn spinner, and ice cream maker, and a gristmill with white and yellow corn meal.  Music will be playing nonstop, with local acts and DJs providing exciting songs that can only enhance the fun of the day.

Of course, the most amazing thing about the festival is the FOOD!  The South is renowned for some of the most amazing food around, and Delta Day will not disappoint.  You’ll be able to savor homemade barbecue, fresh Southern fried catfish, fried chicken, and everything else from corn dogs and French fries to ice cream and funnel cakes.

And don’t forget that the Main Street in Tunica is part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  There are some beautiful buildings with amazing histories that you can explore, as well as quaint antique stores and gift shops that will give you a sense of the past.  It feels almost like stepping back in time, and I dare you not to feel nostalgic as you explore the streets with family and watch those around you having fun.
